Today Kapu-Meniya.in : The central government has given guidelines for regular monitoring by setting up control rooms to prevent farmers from trouble during the ongoing lockdown in the country to combat the corona virus. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar made a detailed review of measures to provide relief to the farmers in a meeting of senior officials through video conferencing in the ministry.

Today In the meeting, Tomar said that along with implementation of the decisions taken in the interest of farmers, maintaining social distance during this period is very important. He told the officials that farmers should not have any problem in harvesting the crops. Every effort should be made that their produce is sold near the farm. Also, there should be smooth movement of crops in and outside the state. The movement of trucks in this regard is also exempted from lockdown. Further sowing of kharif crops is also to be done, due to which there should be no shortage of manure seeds. Adequate means should also be provided for transportation of manure-seeds. The agricultural commodities to be exported should also not be affected.

Today Government has already given exemption for the transportation of machines used in agriculture

Today Agencies for procurement of agricultural products and mandis for procurement of MSP, fertilizer shops, farm work by farmers and workers, custom hiring centers and manufacturing and packaging units of fertilizers, pesticides and seeds, harvesting and sowing. Government has already given exemption for inter-state movement of equipment related to agriculture and horticulture. There is also an exemption to keep the shops of agricultural machinery and parts under lockdown. Earlier, due to the lockdown, the repayment period for farmers' short-term crop loans was also extended till 31 May 2020. Farmers can repay their crop loans till 31 May 2020 at an interest rate of only 4% per annum without any punitive interest.
